Teens
I'm so glad you are here!
You're in an incredible and crazy stage of life - even though it sometimes/often may feel nuts, exhausting or painful. You're up against some unique and huge challenges other generations haven't had to deal with (social media is a big one).
Dan Siegel describes the role of adolescence (ages 13-24 - I know 24 seems old, but our brain doesn't fully develop until then) as:
- Emotional Spark: Heightened emotional intensity that fuels passion and purpose.
- Social Engagement: A drive to connect deeply with peers and society.
- Novelty Seeking: A tendency to explore the unknown, which helps adolescents learn to navigate risk and survive danger.
- Creative Exploration: The capacity to push against the status quo, fostering innovation and new ways of thinking.
These are vital traits that build a strong foundation for a healthy adulthood.
As we meet, I have some options and structure to offer, and mostly will talk about what's most important and pressing for you.
