Q: In regards to emotional well-being and personal growth, what universal questions do we all wrestle?
As I sit with people from all walks of life, I get to be the Goose to their Maverick, the Samwise Gamgee to their Frodo, Obi Wan to their Princess Leia.
What I've discovered is that whether you're in therapy or not, we're all on a vulnerable journey of healing shame, working through struggle, making sense of and trying to move through suffering, unearthing deep hope, desire, longing, and hopefully moving towards freedom, flourishing and thriving – emerging unencumbered to live as one's true self.
The most comforting truth I've learned is we all tend to ask roughly the same questions, and we mostly all think we're the only ones who feel like this, are wondering about this, or are struggling with this.
In my conversations with both clients and friends, I've been asking, "If you could get one question answered or resolution to one issue that would make a significant difference in your life right now, what would it be?" What fascinates me is the deeper longings, fears, hopes, etc. that emerge.
My perspective combines clinical insight based on a biblical worldview with the God-made science of our nervous systems, brains, and general well-being.
Here are questions I hear from people everywhere:
· Am I nuts for feeling like this? Do my emotions make sense?
· Why do I care so much about what people think and end up people pleasing?
· How do I set all kinds (emotional, physical, thinking, etc.) of limits with family or others close to me?
· What is possible for me? What are my options for being well?
These are just some of the questions I will unpack here. I invite you to sit on the couch and get insights to the questions you’ve been asking, too
